With my ever increasing interest in Skyscrappers, I keep coming across this new design sense, of the Vertical Forest, its just fascinating, this web site has several examples, including the Bosco Verticale The World’s First Vertical Forest skyscraper. Visit the  Stefano Boeri web site for more great drawings and a little more on the function of the building.

Technically I can see all sorts of problems that need to be overcome, from drainage, feeding, wind and the obvious leaf fall, clipping, size, and root penetration. But the advantages are huge, shading, cleaner air, and just the look of this style of Architecture. I’m all for this and will follow it up as its built.

I never need much of an Excuse to visit Milan, so my next trip is planned for June next year, I’ll see if I get the chance to visit.

In the distant past I did a lot of garden roofs on multi stepped buildings so have some idea of the technical problems, but this project is in a world and class of it’s own.
